I HEAR, “OH! IT’S GOOD FOR YOU! IT’S A LOW-CAL WAY TO STAY FULL, WITH A TON OF DIFFERENT KINDS TO CHOOSE FROM! IT’S BASICALLY THE KEY TO LIFE!”

DA DA DA DAAAAAAAAAAAA, here to answer all of your canned soup questions! lol. :)
Okay, so basically, soup is fine. BUT, certain soups can be bad. Bad soups: high sodium, chemicals, and artificial stuff (I mean, artificial is just best to avoid, but it won’t kill you). Good soups: low sodium, natural ingredients, SIMPLE ingredients. Go for organic!
Everything in moderation. I mean, soup is a great way to snack! But if you’re eating tons of low cal soup that has tons of sodium in it- that’s bad. Too much sodium = bloat from water retention anyway. Who wants that?
In my opinion, soup is good. However, listen to your body, and its needs, rather than just grabbing soup in order to avoid eating. Just watch out for your soup labels and the contents, and enjoy! :)

I was inspired by the Black Bean Bowl seen here: http://whiskflipstir.com/2010/09/29/black-bean-bowl/#more-1491
but I wanted to bulk it up.
I prepared the quinoa according to package directions and heated the black beans in a sauce pan, basic stuff.
I sliced the peppers and onion into strips and the chili pepper into chunks before putting them into a pan with olive oil nonstick spray, salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste. I sauteed them until they were soft.
I chopped the tomato and avocado into chunks.
I put it all together and topped it with the tomato and avocado and it is delicious.
I like using quinoa instead of rice, it’s a good way to bulk up the meal with extra protein. I didn’t add any seasoning to it this time except for salt in the water, but I think next time I’ll try to add some Mexican flavors to it.
